Rules and Policies

The Short Version:

Sandbox rules are first, followed by group chat policies:

-All avatars must be calm and respectful to use this sandbox.
-No nudity or sexual activity whatsoever. A changing room is available near the water.
-No selling, no unauthorized tip jars, no advertising, no begging, no spamming, no vampire bites or recruiting.
-No griefing, caging, orbiting, shooting, no testing weapons or shields
-When you see griefing, sit down, notify the management team, and feel free to file an AR (from the help menu at the top of your screen).
-No firearms of any sort – scripted or unscripted
-Be pleasant. Clean up after yourself. Remove your objects before you leave.
-Driving is not allowed on sandbox. We are right beside Route two, which is there for everyone to drive on.
-Please build on provided platforms and sandboxes. Classrooms are not to be used as sandboxes.
-Staff are here to help you. When in doubt, check the staff board to see who is available for help.
-We may or may not return any unattended work if you leave.
-Please be respectful of others- this includes avoiding excessive gestures, building too close, using a lot of prims (more than 300) etc (common sense and courtesy prevails!!)
-General questions about building, scripting, living in SL, or the sandbox are welcomed in the group. Off-topic chatter is welcome as long as it is not interfereing with the above. See below for restrictions.

The Complete Story:

Welcome! Happy Hippo Building School exists for building, learning, scripting, socializing, networking, and just getting to know SL. We are dedicated to keeping a helpful and pleasant atmosphere. It is privately owned but open to the general public. Access is at the choice of the owners and management team.

Please be pleasant, respectful and considerate of others. Child avatars are welcome if they are following the guidelines. Random running around is not acceptable. Be helpful if you are able.
We may or may not return any unattended work if you leave.
Build on provided sandboxes and building platforms. No Private build platforms are allowed. Classroom areas are off limits between classes.

*Please remove your objects when you leave. Items left behind will be returned. If you leave a lot of litter, we will probably ask you to work elsewhere. *
*Please link and save your work often to prevent Second Life misfortunes. *

Please be considerate when rez-zing large builds. Larger builds must go on the building platforms and stay within the boundaries of them.

Avoid laggy items (due to scripts, physical behavior or whatever). Use the prims you need but please remember the resources of the sandbox must be shared.

You may not drive a vehicle on the sandbox. Please use Route 2 which is adjacent to the school.

Nudity and sexual behavior are not allowed. If you want to try on clothes, you can use our free changing rooms- Teleports are available from various locations on the land. All ‘naughty’ bits must be covered, and please behave appropriately for a PG Area.

There is absolutely no selling or advertising here. This includes tip jars, landmark givers, shouters. If you put an item out and it is for sale, it will be deleted, and you will be banned. Do not place a teleport to your store here. Do not advertise in the group chat channel. If you want to make money on the sandbox, kindly rent an ad board or a shop and keep your commercial activity confined within the rented space.

No annoying others, no spam, vampire bites, caging, weapons, shields, shooting or excessive gestures. Do not carry, use or brandish a weapon. Weapons testing is not allowed. Put them away while in the sandbox. Play nice.

Illegal activities and discussion of illegal activities will not be tolerated.

We’ll do whatever we must to deal with griefers. We ban or eject if someone is intentionally causing mischief or real problems and is interrupting other ppl
i.e.
— taunting or a verbal battle
— rezzing numerous objects to disrupt the sim
— actively recruiting for groups such as bloodlines
— intentionally disrupting classes

As we have limited prims to share, please keep your builds below 300 prims. If you need to go above this, please check with management.

If you are serious about learning, please join the school group because you will receive free items that will make you a better builder, you can ask whatever you want in the group chat, and be advised of upcoming live classes. There are join boards near the landing and information area. Make the most of the Learn-to-Build tutorials here on the sandbox.

This is the group for Happy Hippo Building School- Hippsters.

Acceptable uses of the group: General questions about building, scripting, living in SL, or the sandbox are welcomed. Off-topic chatter is welcome as long as it is not interfereing with the above.

Not acceptable: Selling, begging, advertising (even of freebies), offering teleports or LMs to other locations, events not held at HHBS (without specific permission), classes held at other building schools may not be advertised. Posting links to websites other than the SL Wiki, our website or being mean are not allowed. Controversial or trigger topics are not allowed. As much of the world is in political upheaval, please keep it out of our group. There are other more appropriate venues.

If uncertain, please check with a moderator. Friendly chat is fine if it doesn’t get out of hand. Keep it clean, respectful, and helpful. Use of chat is completely at the discretion of the Management and moderators.
